January 2025 Meeting Minutes

Call to Order

The Lord’s Prayer

Pledge

Chaplains Message - Ash Wednesday is March 5th this year, we’ll have another meeting before that.  Stay close to the Lord.

 

GK Report

· Minutes from the last meeting were approved.

· Thank you to all the Knights that came out to Sister Mary Roberts on Saturday January 18th

· Thank you to the Knights that came out to Sacred Heart Catholic School for the Free Throw Challenge. Greg, Jeep, Jim, Joe, Chuck, & Darrell. 

· Knights are selling Tickets for World Marriage Day( Feb 8th 5:30-9pm) after Masses Feb 1st at the Vigil mass and the 2nd after 8am, 10:30 and 12:30.  Volunteers needed for each Mass to help sell tickets as well as Assist with Clean up, sell Beer etc. Beer has been purchased for the occasion, we could use some boxes of wine donated for that night.

· Need to form a committee to decide what the Sponsorship Flag for the School will look like.

· Need a Fish Fry Committee, Fish Fry Dates are March 7th, March 28th, and April 11th.

Fundraising Committee –

· Outstanding Dues Balances several members still need to take care of dues. Please take care of ASAP. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please talk to the GK. He can authorize waiving dues. Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and Chancellor to Work on list.

 

Membership Report – Len Kobylus

· The council currently has 103 Active Members.  Sean Flemming is a new member and needs an Exemplification.


Other Reports

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.


Program Director – Darrell Kimball

Family Director – Chris Castille

· Family of the Month – Greg and Kellie Fischer

· Knight of the Month –  Len Kobylus

· Food for FamiliesSupport Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Friday 6-8 pm and Saturday morning from about 8:30-12. The last one was 1/17 & 1/18. Many Knights came out over 2 days to make this a success. The next SMRM is 2/14 & 2/15.

 

Faith Director – Duane Krzysik

· There is a drastic need to improve attendance at Men’s Night. More announcements everywhere are needed. Father Dimock has offered to stay in town on Thursday nights. He requested we send an email to him and Father John to remind them of the event. We are watching the Series the Gospel of Work.

· Refreshments will be served at Men’s night. Next Men’s night is Thursday February 5th in either the Art or Math Room at 6:30pm


Community Director – Jim Bertrand

Basketball Free Throw Challenge was a success. We had a Total of 14 Winners and 110 participants. DD will check to see when District Challenge will be held. If no District Sacred Heart Contestants will go straight to the State Contest.

 

Life Director: Len Kobylus

 

· Polar Plunge March 1st , More information coming via email

· Talk about Casino Night - cancelled, will revisit at a later date

· Special Olympics is looking for a Swim Coach, anyone interested please contact Len.

 

4th Degree Report - Darrell

  • Anyone not receiving Fourth degree information that should, please see Darrell ASAP

Rocky and Logan are now certified volunteers at the VA and are assisting Darrell.

Tea for souls is coming up next month. Chaplain may reach out to Father Dimock. Every quarter this is done for the providers at the VA in their recognition to give them a break.

Darrell to have more information on next gathering in the Chapel for the next Memorial Service for people that have passed in the VA Hospice over the last 6 months. Next service is in June. We provide Color Guard and Catholic Daughters provides refreshments.

Donations for this ministry are helpful and appreciated.

Council Products dividends have gone up 20 basis points for 2025.


DD Report

February 8th at St Thomas Aquinas will be Men’s Conference after 10am Mass. Bishop will attend. Need Color Guard. Sign up at “CatholicMenofthecarolinas.org"if you would like to attend. All day affair with great speakers.

Need delegates signed up for convention in May. 3 Deligates per council. Will be held in Hickory.

St. Patricks Day Dinner under discussion

After Christmas Dinner might be held at the school - under discussion, too expensive at the Crescent

Tom Voignier has tickets for the “22nd Annual Partners in Hope “ event in Winston-Salem. It will be held on March 27,2025. Please see Tom Voignier. He will send more information as it gets closer to the event.
